Friday Food Distribution Team

Partner Description

Giving Children Hope (GCH) is a community-driven nonprofit that equips front-line partners with resources to serve vulnerable children and families. As a faith-based partner, they provide sustainable hope through wellness programs and disaster response in collaboration with local and global communities. The Giving Children Hope community of volunteers and partners is focused on helping local families break out of the cycle of need into success and self-sustainment by providing food, household goods, and leadership development.
Need
Combat weekend food insecurity for families and vulnerable children across Greater Orange County and Los Angeles! Our weekly Friday food distribution serves as a critical lifeline, providing fresh groceries and pantry staples to hundreds of local neighborhoods. It takes an entire team working together—both on the lot and in the distribution lanes—to ensure this massive operation remains safe, efficient, and welcoming for every family who drives through.
More Details
This is a high-energy, deeply impactful on-site opportunity with two distinct serving tracks depending on your age and how you like to serve. This operation runs rain or shine, and individuals, families, and volunteer groups are all welcome!

When: Fridays (Shift times vary by track between 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM).

Commitment: Highly flexible! Try it once to feel the impact, then serve on a schedule that works best for you—weekly, biweekly, or monthly.

Choose Your Serving Track:
Track 1: Food Distribution Team (Ages 13+) > Shift: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Help make a tangible impact by pre-packing grocery bags, sorting fresh produce, assisting with the drive-through distribution lanes, and welcoming families at check-in. Volunteers under 18 must bring a signed Minor Waiver of Liability (available via email request).

Track 2: Traffic & Parking Team (Strictly 18+) > Shift: 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Keep our community safe! Join the early-bird crew to manage high-volume vehicle flow, direct cars safely into the drive-thru lanes, and keep the staging area organized. Due to working in close proximity to moving vehicles, this track is strictly for volunteers 18 and older.
