Emergency Shelter Beautification Day

Partner Description

The Salvation Army's mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs) provide residential recovery programs for individuals seeking to deal with substance abuse and other addictions. They seek to help participants regain self-worth, learn how to build an orderly and disciplined life and become contributing members of society. Each program participant is provided with a clean and healthy living environment, nutritious food, group and individual counseling, spiritual direction, work therapy assignments, and recreational activities.
Need
Help create a peaceful, welcoming, and uplifting environment for adult residents transitioning out of homelessness! The physical appearance of an emergency shelter plays a powerful role in restoring dignity and bringing hope to individuals working to rebuild their lives. By giving this adult shelter facility some extra care and attention, you help ensure the property looks loved, clean, and beautiful.
More Details
This is a highly rewarding, active outdoor opportunity that is wonderful for individuals or adult groups who enjoy working with their hands. Because needs shift throughout the year, projects vary by season to keep the property looking its best.

When: This project takes place on the first Wednesday of every month at 11:00 AM.

What to Expect: Tasks frequently include working in the property's prayer garden—pulling weeds, raking, cleaning, planting fresh flowers, and watering—as well as taking time to pray over the campus and community.

Age Requirement: This opportunity is strictly for volunteers 18 years and older, as this facility exclusively serves adult residents.

Physical Requirements: Volunteers should be comfortable bending, lifting, and working outdoors in the sun for the duration of the shift.
