Partner Description
Pathways of Hope is dedicated to ending hunger and homelessness for vulnerable people in North Orange County. This local nonprofit provides critical food, shelter, and housing services for the most marginalized residents in our community.
Need
Help combat higher-education food insecurity by supporting a vital resource pantry located directly on a local college campus! Many college students face the hidden challenge of food insecurity, balancing the rising costs of tuition and textbooks with basic everyday nutrition. By helping unload grocery deliveries or distributing supplies, you ensure that students have free, reliable access to the fresh food and pantry staples they need to stay healthy and succeed in their studies.
More Details
This is a rewarding, highly active on-site opportunity perfect for individuals or small groups looking to serve on a college campus during the week. We are serving between 200-300 students each week depending on the site and semester. Shifts are available Monday through Thursday, and we have multiple shifts to choose from depending upon availability.
When: Mondays through Thursdays (Morning and Afternoon shifts vary by site and by day)
Where: Cypress College & North Orange Continuing Education (Anaheim) College
Times: Vary based on college location site but are generally between 8:30am-12pm, or 11am-2pm or 1:30-4:30pm. Once you complete the online volunteer application Pathways staff will contact you to help you find the shift that best fits your schedule.
Types of Shifts:
Unloading & Stocking Shift: Unload food deliveries and donations, weigh donated food, check food expiration dates, stock shelves, break down boxes, set up for food distribution, and general clean up.
Food Distribution Shift: Engage directly with the community! Greet and help students with food selections, pack food in bags, and general clean up.
Capacity: 1–4 volunteers are needed per day depending on the shift. We have a few shifts available during the summer for minors aged 16 and older, but they must be accompanied by an adult.
Dress Code: For your safety, closed-toed shoes are strictly required for all food pantry volunteers.
