Giving Children Hope (GCH) is a community-driven nonprofit that equips front-line partners with resources to serve vulnerable children and families. As a faith-based partner, they provide sustainable hope through wellness programs and disaster response in collaboration with local and global communities. The Giving Children Hope community of volunteers and partners is focused on helping local families break out of the cycle of need into success and self-sustainment by providing food, household goods, and leadership development.
Need
Protect local children from weekend food insecurity! While many vulnerable students rely heavily on school-provided breakfast and lunch programs during the week, Saturdays and Sundays often present a difficult gap in nutrition. By hosting a targeted food drive, you help supply the "We've Got Your Back" program, which fills backpacks with nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals so kids can return to school on Monday well-fed and ready to learn.

This is a highly scalable, flexible opportunity that is perfect for neighborhoods, school clubs, sports teams, co-workers, or families to coordinate. You can choose to collect a diverse mix of the items below or focus your entire drive on gathering a single high-demand product in bulk!
Estimated Cost: Highly variable depending on the size of your drive. (Standard bulk items run approx. $1.50 – $4.00 per item at local Southern California grocers or warehouse stores).
Critical Guidelines: All donations must be nonperishable, brand new, unopened, and safely packaged. To ensure shelf-stability, please check that all items have an expiration date of at least 9 months in the future.
Highly Requested Foods: Canned vegetables, canned fruit, soups, chili, canned tuna, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, mac and cheese, boxed cereal, and granola bars.
