HURTS ...we have all experienced them. One Hurt can lead to another Hurt. A life of false beliefs that rejection, unworthiness, discouragement, low self esteem, insecurity and other beliefs will always be with us. Many have had very deep pain which extends beyond painful and Hurtful words.

***We are not counselors, but we do have a passion to help others based on our own past experiences. We want to make sure we all learn and grow in Christ's love together. We encourage you to share your thoughts, complete assignments (when provided) and be comfortable!

Life's Healing Choices (PR)

For Everyone on Thursday at 6:30pm | Weekly | On-Campus | Park Rapids, MN

Leader(s): Greg Chase, Laura Chase, Katy Freitag

This is group will start in January 2023.

We’ve all been hurt by other people, we’ve hurt ourselves, and we’ve hurt others. And as a result, every single one of us ends up with some sort of hurt, hang-up, or habit. But the question we all face is, Where do we go from here?

In addition to practical, encouraging biblical teaching, each chapter includes two real-life testimonies of men and women whose lives have been transformed by living out the eight choices in this book. Through making each of these choices, you too will find God’s pathway to wholeness, growth, spiritual maturity, happiness, and healing. You’ll find real answers, real hope, and a real future — one healing choice at a time.

NOTE - This group is accepting sign-ups now for a January 2023 start date.

Living in Freedom Everyday (L.I.F.E.) Group Class for Men (Online)

For Men on Monday at 6:00pm PT | Weekly | Online

Leader(s): Don Gerdts

Class sessions meet weekly on Mondays for 7 months beginning January 23, 2023.

Register for the L.I.F.E. Recovery Group Class for Men at www.thought-life.com.

Let’s face it. Unwanted, unhealthy, and compulsive sexual behaviors such as pornography, lustful thoughts, promiscuity, and adultery are just as prevalent among Christians as they are in society at large. There are many believers who, because of painful experiences, habits, and choices, regularly use sex, sex substitutes and relationships as an escape or medication to help them cope with life. Many of these same people desperately long to be free from their bondage and intensely desire to live in sexual integrity.

This L.I.F.E. Recovery Group Class is a confidential support group dedicated to helping men to escape from the bondage and consequences of unwanted or compulsive sexual behaviors and to equipping them to walk in God’s unconditional love!

While not a therapy group, the L.I.F.E. Group for Men is facilitated by a married Christian man who is a trained mentor in the area of sexual integrity, who has experienced both devastation and transformation from sexual brokenness, and who has facilitated the content and curriculum in the L.I.F.E. Recovery Guide for Men for 3+ years.

The group incorporates guided curriculum, spiritual discipline, honesty and openness in a small group, and ongoing support in a safe setting for those dealing with sexual brokenness. The ongoing support so critical to the process of transformation comes from the connection of lives through this small group, which involve open, transparent, and accountable connections with fellow strugglers.

The L.I.F.E. Recovery Group Class for Men meets virtually via Zoom, with weekly lessons, individual homework and group discussion of the specific curriculum for approximately seven months

The curriculum of the L.I.F.E. Recovery Guide is based on seven principles, similar to the eight principles from Celebrate Recovery. The class would probably be best described as a CR “Step Study” specifically tailored to those who struggle with sexual integrity or unwanted sexual behaviors.

Below is the syllabus for the L.I.F.E. Recovery Group for Men class:

Syllabus

Principle One: We admit that we have absolutely no control of our lives. Sexual sin has become unmanageable.
1. Admitting Our True Condition
2. Understanding Our Cycle
3. Identifying our Roots and Desires

Principle Two: We believe in God, accept the grace offered through His Son, Jesus Christ, and surrender our lives and our wills to Him on a daily basis.
1. Exploring Our Reluctance
2. Surrendering Control
3. Placing Hope in God

Principle Three: We make a list of our sins and weaknesses and confess those to a person of spiritual authority.
1. Admitting Our Darkness
2. Outlining Our Darkness
3. Confessing Our Darkness

Principle Four: We seek accountability and to build our character as children of God.
1. Accepting Accountability
2. Assessing Our Character
3. Cultivating Our Character

Principle Five: We explore the damage we have done, accept responsibility, and make amends for our wrongs.
1. Assessing the Damage
2. Planning Amends
3. Living Amends

Principle Six: In fellowship with others, we develop honest, intimate relationships, where we celebrate our progress and continue to address our weaknesses.
1. Practicing the Program
2. Changing Our Cycle
3. Growing In Spirituality

Principle Seven: As we live in sexual integrity, we carry the message of Christ’s healing to those who still struggle, and we pursue a vision of God’s purpose for our lives.
1. Telling Your Story
2. Sharing Your Pain
3. Discovering Your Vision

Register for the L.I.F.E. Recovery Group for Men at www.thought-life.com.

Living in Freedom Everyday (L.I.F.E.) Group Class for Spouses (Online)

For Women on Thursday at 6:00pm PT | Weekly | Online

Leader(s): Sonia Gerdts

Living in Freedom Everyday (L.I.F.E.) Group Class for Spouses (Online)

Let’s face it. Unwanted, unhealthy, and unscriptural sexual behaviors such as pornography, compulsive
lust, and adultery are just as prevalent among Christians as they are in society at large. There are many
believers who, because of painful experiences and choices, compulsively use sex, sex substitutes and
relationships as an escape or medication to help them cope with life. Many of these same people
desperately long to be free from their bondage and intensely desire to live in sexual integrity.

This L.I.F.E. Group for Women is a support group dedicated to helping spouses of people who struggle
with sexual integrity to grieve the losses associated with their mate’s sexual brokenness, walk in
freedom from the bondage of codependence, and grow in God’s unconditional love and defining truth
as they take the healing journey of transformation.

While not a therapy group, the L.I.F.E. Group for Women is facilitated by a married Christian woman
who is a trained mentor and who has experienced both devastation and transformation from sexual
brokenness in her marriage, including facilitating the content and curriculum in the L.I.F.E. Recovery
Guides for 2+ years.

The group incorporates guided curriculum, spiritual discipline, small group accountability and ongoing
prayer and support for those who are experiencing or who have experienced sexual brokenness in their
marriages. While there is much within the content and curriculum to help the betrayed spouse to
identify and deal with their wounds, we also encourage individual therapy to address root issues that
often lead to unwanted behaviors, both as individuals and in marriage relationships.

The ongoing support so critical to the process of transformation comes from the connection of lives
through this small group, which involve open, transparent, and accountable connections with fellow
sufferers.

The L.I.F.E. Group for Spouses will begin with an initial introductory meeting leading to weekly study of
specific curriculum for 6-7 months.

The curriculum of the L.I.F.E. Recovery Guide is based on seven principles, similar to the eight principles
from Celebrate Recovery, which are specific to the spouses of people who struggle with their sexual
integrity.

Below are the key principles addressed in this group:
1. A time for grieving.
2. I’m powerless over the choices of my spouse.
3. Finding the Solution
4. Telling the truth
5. Growing in transformation
6. Demonstrating real change
7. Living in fellowship
8. Finding a purpose
